The 2025 edition of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Alumni Homecoming kicked off its second day with a Health Walk and a symbolic Tree Planting exercise, drawing together past and present members of the university community in a celebration of wellness and sustainability.
Beginning at 7:30 a.m., the Health Walk brought together alumni, students, faculty, and staff who journeyed through the university’s scenic campus in a show of unity and vitality.
The walk, which lasted a hour, served not only as a fitness activity but also a bonding opportunity among the various generations of the KNUST family.
Following the walk, participants gathered at the grounds near the new Central Laboratory building, adjacent to the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CoHSS) new block, for a community-wide Tree Planting exercise.
The activity formed part of the university’s broader efforts toward environmental sustainability and greening the campus.
Various year groups and hall sections took part, each planting a tree to commemorate their lasting connection to the university.
The Health Walk and Tree Planting was climaxed with an aerobics section at the Paa Joe Stadium.
The initiative also symbolized growth, continuity, and the collective responsibility of alumni and current students in nurturing the legacy of KNUST.
The tree planting activity not only reinforced the Homecoming theme of connection and giving back but also highlighted KNUST’s commitment to environmental stewardship in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The day's activities continue with more interactive and engaging moments, including the much-anticipated Tek LUMBA Jam in the evening.
